Anne (McAvay) Was, 88 of the Plantsville section of Southington, passed away on Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at the HCC at Bradley Memorial Hospital.
Born October 18, 1927 in New Britain, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Grace (Avery) McAvay.
Anne is survived by her three daughters, Kathryn McGloin and husband William of Southington, Laura Clark and husband Steven of Middletown and JoAnne Was of Southington; five grandchildren, Erik, Maribeth, Gary, Jamie and wife Alison; two great-grandchildren, Jaxen and Clayton along with several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a great-grandson Jamie and three sisters, Catherine, Grayce and Marion.
Anne will be sorely missed by her family. They would like to thank her friends and neighbors who filled her days and watched over her with loving care. Her family would also like to thank Dr. Andrew Guest and his staff for their wonderful care given to Anne over many years.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Thomas Church, 99 Bristol St., Southington. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery, New Britain. Memorial calling hours will be Monday from 5-7 p.m. at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington.
