Obit - Helen FarrHelen E. (Schrump) Farr, 94, widow of Wesley Farr, passed on July 18, 2016.  Helen and her husband were longtime residents of Southington and Ocala, FL. Her husband predeceased her in 1987.

Helen, born in New Britain, CT, was the oldest child of Minnie (Thompson) Schrump and Francis Schrump. Her beloved brother Frank was lost in combat in WWII and her sisters Irene (Newell) and Irma (Eastwood) predeceased her. She is survived by one sister, Jeanne Hunter of Colorado.

She is also survived by her daughter, Ruth Coleman with whom she made her home, son, David Potter and wife Mary, daughter Dorothy Ruest and son-in-law Martin and son Keith Potter and daughter-in-law Lynn.

Grandchildren Jonathan Potter, Paul Ruest, Kenneth Potter, Jeffrey Potter, Kristine Potter, Katie Muir, Jennifer Lanci, Wendy Bernardo, Holly D’Addario, Philip Ruest, Jason and Marc Ruest brightened her life and gave her many precious great grandchildren.

Helen was a versatile and talented artist in both her professional careers and hobbies. We remember her as a photographer for the original Southington News as well as a valued employee of Allied Control. She enthusiastically took painting lessons from Bob Ross while in Florida and her paintings grace many homes. Her handmade jewelry adorns the wrists of family members, her pottery decorates many a Christmas setting and her home sewn clothes gave her just the right apparel to wear for her many events. Most of all, although learned later in life, she loved ballroom dancing and could be found swirling at many senior dances and family weddings.

Her family is grateful for the care given by Franciscan Homecare and Hospice, the Bradley Hospital Staff and the Summit of Plantsville.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in her memory to the Plainville Senior Center, 200 East St. Plainville, CT 06062 where she spent many happy moments.

Calling hours are Saturday, July 23, 2016, from 10-11:00 am followed by a service of remembrance at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. A reception will be held at the First Congregational Church at 37 Main St. Southington.Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
