Joan C. (Finland) Sheppard, 73 of Southington, passed away on Saturday, September 17, 2016 after a courageous battle with kidney cancer. She was the loving wife of Edward Sheppard.
Born December 21, 1942 in Meriden, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Margaret (Smiddy) Finland.
Joan was a graduate of Caledonian School of Nursing in Brooklyn, NY. She retired after 33 years at HCC at Bradley Memorial.
In addition to her husband she leaves her children, Christopher Sheppard of Southington, Kathleen Seibel and husband Matt of Woburn, MA; four grandchildren, Joe, Elizabeth and Emily DeSimone and Jack Seibel; a sister Katherine Dugan and husband Jim of Southington and a son-in-law, Christopher DeSimone. She was predeceased by her daughter, Dr. Kelly Ann Sheppard and a sister Judy Finland.
A mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church, 130 Summer St., Plantsville. Memorial calling hours will be Friday from 5-7 p.m. at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
