John J. Logus, 71, of Southington, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 24, 2016, at home, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Marianne Logus.
He was born on Aug. 21, 1945 in New Britain, the son of the late John and Helen (Golas) Logus. He was a US Marine Veteran of the Vietnam War as part of Alpha 1-7, and had received the Purple Heart and the Silver Star. Prior to his retirement, John was employed by Pratt & Whitney Aircraft for 45 years. John was a member of the Marine Corps League, the VFW, the American Legion, the Southington Sportsman’s Club and the International Machinists Union.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, John Brett Logus and his fiancé, Stephanie Munzi of Wallingford, and his daughter, Tami Anne Christopher of Cambridge, MA, and 2 grandchildren, Hunter Jackson McMahon, and Sophia Anne McMahon. He leaves a sister, Leandra Bakaj and her husband Peter and his many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, David Lee Christopher. He also leaves behind many special friends, some he hunted with for years and some which were Marine Corps brothers.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2016 at 10:30 am at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. Burial will be at State Veteran’s Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Monday from 5-7 pm.
