Margaret “Peggy” (Menturweck) Puglielli, 73, of Southington passed away on Saturday, December 24, 2016 after bravely fighting Ovarian cancer for eight years. She was the loving wife of Louis Puglielli for 46 years.
Born August 3, 1943 in Waterbury, she is the daughter of Mary (Zajac) Menturweck of Southington and the late William Menturweck.
In addition to her husband and mother she leaves her son, Jeff Puglielli, and his wife Wendy of Naperville, IL. She was the devoted and loving grandmother to Avery and Bennett Puglielli. She also leaves behind two sisters, Judy Nalwalk of Bristol and Lynne Menturweck of St. Paul, MN, along with several nieces and a nephew.
Peggy graduated from St. Mary’s School of Nursing in 1964. She retired in 2005 from Mid-State Medical Center as a registered nurse. She worked prior to that at World War II Veterans Memorial Hospital in Meriden and St. Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury.
She will be remembered not only for her battle with cancer but for her passion for baking, her delicious chocolate turtles, and her love of hummingbirds and birdwatching. She always thought of others before herself, and she helped everyone she met shine in their own unique way, especially her granddaughter. She will be greatly missed by all her friends and family.
A memorial Mass will be held on Friday, at 11:30 a.m. at Mary Our Queen Church, 248 Savage St., Plantsville. Calling hours will be from 9-11 a.m. before Mass at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Cancer Center in support of The Hospital of Central Connecticut.
