Gene “Doc” DeRosa, 90, passed away on Sunday March 26, 2017 at the Village Green in Bristol surrounded by his children.
Born in Southington on April 28, 1926, he was the son of the late Nicholas and Lucy (Carrangelo) DeRosa. He owned and operated Statewide Foundations Inc and was well known for his work in Southington and the surrounding towns. Gene liked the gaming tables in CT, Atlantic City, and Las Vegas. He loved to play cards at the Sons of Italy Club where he was a lifetime member. He also enjoyed golf and was a member of the Scarpa Shoda Gang.
Gene was predeceased by his two sons, David and Daniel DeRosa, two brothers Ralph and Fred DeRosa. Gene is survived by his children, Jeffrey, Lauralyn, Tami Jean and Katie DeRosa all of Southington, grandchildren Techa, Justin, Tiffany, Jaime, Aaron and Bentley, Great Grandchildren, Emma, Madalyn, Josalyn, Antonio, Stacia and Angel, a sister Rita Dube of Bristol, a brother Nick DeRosa Jr. of Waterbury, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be Friday 9:15 Am from DellaVecchia Funeral Home 211 N. main St. Southington to St. Thomas Church for Mass at 10 AM. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday from 5 to 7 PM.
