Alexander Adaskaveg Jr., 88, of Southington, passed away on Thursday May 26, 2016 at Apple Rehab Coccomo in Meriden. He was the beloved husband of the late Philomena “Fannie” (Venditto) Adaskaveg.
Born in Naugatuck, on January 25, 1928, the son of the late Alexander and Eva Adaskaveg Sr.. He was a veteran of the US Navy serving in WWII. Prior to his retirement, Alex was employed by SNET for over 30 years. He was a 4th degree knight in the Knights of Columbus and was an usher and a parishioner of St. Thomas Church.
Alex enjoyed woodcarvings, fishing and gardening. Upon retirement, he assisted his sons with beekeeping, vending, race car photography, landscaping and working on displays for Atlas Fireworks Co.
Alexander is survived by 3 sons and daughters-in-laws, Michael and Annie Adaskaveg of Oakley, CA, Alexander and Deborah Adaskaveg of Southington, and James and Peggy Adaskaveg of Riverside, CA, 9 grandchildren, Corina, Ashley, Austin, Amy, Allison, Paige, Cole, Jaclyn, and Adam, and 2 great grandchildren Jaxon and Andrew, along with several nieces and nephews.
He was pre-deceased by one brother and four sisters.
The family would like to thank his caregiver, Kathy for her services and keeping him content and comfortable.
The Funeral will be held on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at 11 am in St. Thomas Church, 99 Bristol St., Southington. Calling hours will be on Wednesday from 9-10:30 am at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington. Burial with Military Honors will be in St. Thomas Cemetery.
