Jean Bekker, 89, of Southington, passed away on Sunday, October 23, 2016 at Southington Care Center. She was the wife of the late Walter Bekker.
She was born in New Britain, the daughter of the late John and Estelle (Pavlick) Kane. Jean was a resident of New Britain most of her life and had moved to Southington 10 years ago. Prior to her retirement she had been employed at New Britain General Hospital. She was a former member of St. Maurice Church in New Britain. Jean loved to read and do puzzles but most of all she loved her family especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by a son John Bekker and his wife Marian of Newington a daughter Sheila Ierardi and her husband David of Southington with whom she made her home. She also leaves her cherished grandchildren Mark Bekker, Catherine Bekker, Alison Berardinelli and her husband Matt and Christian Ierardi and his wife Miranda as well as two nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters Eleanor McCrann and Dolores Kane.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 10:30 am at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. Southington. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery in New Britain. Calling hours will be on Tuesday morning from 8:30-10:30 am.
