Obituary: Zelma (Sartucci) (Santicioli) Sabatella, 100

obit-zelma-sabatellaZelma (Sartucci) (Santicioli) Sabatella, passed away on Tuesday, November 22, at the age of 100, at the Apple Coccomo Center in Meriden after a stay of five years. . Born on May 21, 1916 in Meriden, she was the daughter of the late Oreste and Laurina (Gori) Sartucci.She was the wife of the late Ralph Sabatella as well as the late Armand Santicioli.

Mrs. Sabatella attended local schools in Meriden and was a retired employee of Pratt & Whitney.

After her retirement she volunteered for many years at the gift shop at Bradley Memorial Hospital in Southington.  She possessed an artistic flair for fashion and decorating.  Antiquing was an activity she enjoyed.

She resided at Kensington Village in Meriden for many years and while there enjoyed many friendships.

Besides her husbands she was predeceased by a daughter Bonnie Long, brothers Patrick and August Sartucci, sisters Nancy Magi, Julia Meoni, Florence Vivari.  She is survived by a grandson Jeffrey Long of California, her two nieces who were her long time caregivers – Laurene Tufts (Jim) and Geraldine Meoni.  Survivors also include many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews descended from the Sartucci family.

Her family would like to thank the staff in the 100 wing of Apple Coccomo for the loving care they provided her.  Special thanks to her wonderful roommate Georgia Dingwell and family for the many kindnesses shown to Zelma.

In lieu of flowers contributions in her memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

A Funeral Service will be held on Monday November 28, 2016 at 1:00 PM at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home 211 N. Main St. in Southington. Entombment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Calling hours are Monday from 11 AM to 1 PM.
