Obituary: Dominic J. Arre, 91

Dominic J. Arre, 91, of Bristol, formerly of Southington, passed away very peacefully, and surrounded by his family on Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2016 at HOCC New Britain. He was reunited with his beloved late wife, Beatrice (Votino) Arre, who had passed in 1998.

He was born Nov. 10, 1925 in Farmington the son of the late Vito Modesto and Maria Giovanna (Fralonardo) Arre. He had retired in the mid 1980’s, from General Electric in Plainville, where he worked for 30 years. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force, during WWII from Mar.21, 1944 to May 14, 1946, overseas in the Philippines and the Island of Biak, as a Radio Operator and Cryptographer. Dominic was recalled into the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He served at Mitchel AFB, in New York. He also served as a Crypto Supervisor at Lajes Air Base in the Azores (AACS), as well as a Crypto instructor at the A.F. Training School, Scott AFB in IL.

He is survived by his son David Arre and daughter-in-law Nicole of Bristol, a granddaughter Rosalie Beatrice Arre, his sister Marion Testa of Southington and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by 3 sisters, Grace Musto, Mary Cibula and Criscenza Mesite and 3 brothers, Steven , Michael, and Thomas Arre. He was also predeceased by 2 sisters that passed away in infancy.

The Funeral will be held Tuesday 9:15 a.m. from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home 211 N. Main St. Southington, to St. Thomas Church at 10 a.m. for a Mass. Burial will be at St. Thomas Cemetery with Military Honors. Calling hours will be Monday from 5- 8 p.m.
