Virginia F. (Barillaro) Smedberg, 87, formerly of Southington, CT, went to be with our Lord on Sunday, Dec. 4, 2016, at the Wesley Long Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of George A. Smedberg for 66 years.
The youngest of 10 children, Virginia was born Mar. 14, 1929, in Meriden, CT, the daughter of the late Salvatore and Grace (DeMaria) Barillaro.
Besides her husband she is survived by her children, Douglas Smedberg (and wife, Gayle,) of Greensboro, NC, Bruce Smedberg (and wife, Janice,) of Ft. Myers, FL, and Arthur Smedberg (and wife, Kathleen,) of Plantsville, CT. She also leaves behind 6 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, her sister, Carmel Dills of Durham, CT; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her five sisters and four brothers.
Her family was her top priority as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and relatives. Also a friend to many, she was beautiful and gracious with the kindest of souls to everyone she knew and met.
Services will be held privately and at the convenience of the family.
