Schneider, 70, of Southington passed away peacefully on Thursday, Dec. 15, 2016 at HCC at New Britain General, surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the beloved husband of Faye (Karshis) Schneider. He was born in Tucson, AZ, the son of the late Theresa Panella. Noel was a 1963 Graduate of SHS and had attended Broadcasting School. Prior to his retirement he was a dispatcher for the Southington Police Dept. and had formerly worked for Fafnir Bearing Co. in New Britain and Newington. Noel’s passion was coaching youth sports in the town of Southington. Noel had fond memories coaching youth sports in Southington. He always spoke of the memories from coaching and the kids he taught.
In the 1980’s, Noel was the commissioner of the Southington Midget Football League (SMFL) at Memorial Park. He was the head coach of the Bears with Jim Aretz Jr., Nate Grant, Burns Olmstead, John Beidler, Jeff Romano, Bill Thompson, Ed DeGumbia, Dick Borkowski and Al Hubeny. He also coached Little League Baseball at the Western Little League where he coached the UNICO team with Sam Carrubba and John Beidler. Noel Coached at the Southington Girls Softball League as he coached the Blue Jays with Jerry Gorr. Noel was also a member of the A.C.T.I.O.N. CB Club of Southington in the 70’s and 80’s.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his children, Dawn and husband Peter Cappellino of Plainville, David Schneider of Southington and Michael Schneider and Debbie Manchak of Southington, his grandchildren Amber, Meghan, Sarah, Tessa, Jonathan, Justin, Joshua, Alexa and Hannah. He also leaves his aunt Annamae and husband Francis Verderame. He was predeceased by his daughter Julie Schneider.
The family would like to thank Dr. Wylie Hosmer and the staff at the Cancer Center at the Hospital of Central CT for their compassionate care and concern for Noel and the entire family.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2016 at 11 am at the Zion Lutheran Church, 531 Pleasant St. Southington. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Calling hours will be on Monday, Dec. 19, 2016 from 3-8 pm at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. Southington. For online condolences
