Helen L. (Simone) DellaVecchia, 98, of Southington, died on Wednesday, March 16, 2016.

Helen L. (Simone) DellaVecchia, 98, of Southington, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 surrounded by her family at the Alzheimer’s Resource Center.  She was the wife of the late Arthur C. DellaVecchia for 52 years.

She was born on Jan. 13, 1918 in Southington, the daughter of the late Joseph and Rose (DeAngelo) Simone. She was a lifelong resident of Southington.  Many years ago, Helen was employed as a bookkeeper by the former Simone Bros. Oil Co. She was a parishioner of St. Thomas Church and a past member of its Ladies Guild, a past member of the Bradley Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, the Southington Women’s Club and the T & C Club. Helen assisted as a chaperone with the Miss CT Pageant in the 1960’s. She enjoyed golfing and was a member of Southington Country Club and the Polish Falcon’s Women’s Golf League. She loved golfing and was an accurate putter. Helen enjoyed playing cards, especially with her Friday night canasta club.

She was an excellent cook and enjoyed cooking for her family and friends.

She is survived by her children, Adele Fama and her husband Philip of Bethany and David DellaVecchia and partner Wayne Patrick of Southington, her most beloved granddaughter Olivia Fama and many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was predeceased by sisters, Josephine Miranda, Anna Simone, Carmella DellaVecchia and Mary Leach, brothers, George, James, Anthony, Louis and Andrew Simone.

The family would like to thank her caregivers, Zofia and Mirka and the entire staff of Alzheimer’s Resource Center in community 1B for their loving care and concern.

A Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, March 19th at 9:30 am at St. Thomas Church, 99 Bristol St. Burial will be at St. Thomas Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday (TODAY) from 3-7 pm at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St.
