Dorothy “Dot” (Klimkewicz) Zimmermann, 75, of Southington, passed away on April 15, 2016 at the East Bay Rehab Center in Largo, FL. She was the loving wife of Jerome “Jerry” Zimmermann for over 52 years.
Dot was born in Bristol on March 9, 1941 daughter of the late Chester and Yvonne (Fortier) Klimkewicz. She attended Goodwin Technical HS for Hairdressing. She was a member of St Thomas church for 50 years. She worked for many years at Ace Advance paper company, making beautiful wedding favors.
Dot and Jerry loved to camp and travel and were blessed to be able to see many parts of the country. She was a member of the Happy Wanderers camping club since 1966 serving in various positions including Chapter President, CT FCRV and State Directors. She leaves behind hundreds of camping friends made over a lifetime of campfire sitting.
Besides her husband Jerry, Dot is survived by her daughters Sister Naomi (Kathy) Zimmermann of Jerusalem, Kelly and Julia Zimmermann of Minneapolis, brothers Stephen Klimkewicz (Linda) of Bristol, CT and Edward Klimkiewicz of Seminole, FL, a sister in law Rosie Klimkiewicz of Bristol, CT , several nieces and nephews and her beloved adopted grandchildren Kyle and Kegan Relihan.
Calling hours will be Friday April 22 from 4 to 7 pm, at DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. Southington. The funeral will be held at 10 am on Saturday April 23, 2016 at the Franciscan Sisters of the Eucharist Motherhouse – The Chapel of St. John, 269 Finch Ave, Meriden. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
