Clik here to view.Rosa (Zacchia) Izzo, 82, of Southington, passed away at Southington Care Center on Sunday (November 27, 2016) surrounded by her loving family after battling through many illnesses. She was the beloved wife of the late Giuseppe Izzo for 50 years.
She was born on March 26, 1934 in Treglia, Province of Caserta, Italy, the daughter of the late Vincenzo and Maria (Carusone) Zacchia. She later migrated to Montreal Canada with her parents and family, eventually settling in Southington in 1972. Prior to her retirement, she was employed by Airpax Corporation. Rosa took great pride in her cooking and gardening and was devoted to her family and friends. She was a member of the Italian Rosary Society and an active parishioner of St. Thomas Church.
She is survived by her two sons, Frank Izzo and his wife Marilyn, and Mario Izzo and his wife Teresa. She was known as “Nonni” to her three cherished grandsons Joseph Richard, Mario Giuseppe Jr. and Luca Raffaele whom she love and adored. She also leaves a brother Guarino and wife Angelina Zacchia, sister-in law Mary Zacchia, nieces and nephews Maria Marra of Italy, Josie & John Morrison, Vincenzo & Virginia Zacchia, Vincenzo and Kim Zacchia, Angelo & Maria Zacchia, Maria & Robert Gagnon. She was predeceased by 2 brothers Tommasso and Giuseppe Zacchia, sisters-in-law Francesca Zacchia, Carmella Marra & Savina Izzo and brother-in-law Luigi Marra. She is also survived by uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by all her family and friends in Montreal and Italy.
The family would like to thank all of Rosa’s caregivers from Eurocare especially Maria Veshaguri and Ewa Matysiak as well as the entire staff at Southington Care Center especially the nurses and aids for their amazing care and kindness.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Dec. 1, 2016 at 9:15 am from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. to St. Thomas Church at 10 am for a Mass. Burial will be at St. Thomas Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Wednesday from 5-8 pm.
